Binders come in two types boomer or lever action and ratcheting. Some truckers think that DOT has outlawed the old boomer type, but they have not as of yet though many think they should. They are prohibited by federal employees to use though; “When tie-down chains are used, ratchet load binders are the only approved style of load binders.” (http://www.fws.gov/policy/243fw5.html)
We do not recommend lever type load binders due to their inherent safety hazards. The boomer type load binder can come loose both during the binding operation and during transportation causing load shifting or possible personal and property damage. At all times if you are using a boomer you should tie down the handle after you have snapped it shut to prevent it from coming loose. Because of this we will not sell them on our web site.
The ratcheting type load binder or chain binder is a more safer and secure way to secure you load and when properly used should not cause any personal or property damage. We do carry these on our web site and are happy to sell them.
